I thought getting a VPS would be too expensive or not worth it, but I've got sooo many projects setup now that make my life better.

I just went through and archived all the fanfics I'd be sad about not getting to read anymore. As always, I've given myself too much power lol.

Readeck has really nice tagging and collections abilities, so once you setup a collection with a specific set of tags, it will auto-update the collection!

I think the author is getting at something that feels real though, which is that light novels (CJK) feel fresh, entertaining, and expansive compared to western fiction right now.

I think they could have pushed this thinking a little further, since the popularity of Romantasy (booktok adjacent) and gamelit/progression fantasy like Dungeon Crawler Carl are meeting the same fundamental need or "reading pleasure" as this author calls it.

Royal Road/Kindle Unlimited is sort of functioning in the same manner as Korean free chapters/paid chapters model.

In the interest of saving things before they disappear, I decided to self-host #Readeck, which is a bookmark/read-it-later application with archiving capabilities.

Probably not going to replace Instapaper with it since I have some automations setup, but it has an excellent archiving ability that works with a browser extension

@anime yeah I could maybe struggle through a short story, but reading an entire novel is too much brain power for me, especially since I would be looking up words every sentence haha

I got tired of waiting for a re-license or continuation of Dawn of the Mapmaker / Tsukumo no Reimei (it's been years) so I bought the jp books to MTL.

Wish me luck I guess lol.

The world's first Fedify book, Practical Fedify: Introduction to ActivityPub Microblog Development (実践Fedify——ActivityPubマイクロブログ開発入門), has been published in Japan. This is also the first book I have ever published, and it feels quite surreal that my first book is in Japanese rather than my native language, Korean. This book is an expanded version based on the official English Fedify tutorial, Creating your own federated microblog, with various additions. Yumetsuki Mama (ゆめつきママ) worked on the cute book cover illustration, which features the Fedify dinosaur mascot, Misskey's mascot Ai-chan, and the Mastodon mascot together. I ordered books from Merry Manga Co. on April 24th and they said it would take 3 weeks for backordered books.

They still haven't shipped them out yet

I'm gonna give it one more week before contacting them since Lord of Mysteries released on the 12th, but not sure if I would order from them again if it takes this long without any updates

The biggest change this release is a complete redesign of every server-rendered page. Pico CSS is replaced by a new design system built on UnoCSS, and your chosen theme color now tints your profile and dashboard pages throughout.

Other highlights:

• Passkey (WebAuthn) authentication: sign in with a biometric or PIN gesture, which counts as MFA so there's no separate TOTP step
• Full FEP-044f quote authorization: QuoteRequest/Accept/Reject federation, quote policy enforcement, and dereferenceable QuoteAuthorization objects
• A configurable media proxy (MEDIA_PROXY=proxy or cache) that re-serves remote avatars, attachments, and preview images from Hollo's own origin
• Optional split-domain WebFinger via HANDLE_HOST + WEB_ORIGIN
• Public followers/following pages and per-post reaction list pages (likes, boosts, emoji reactions, quotes)

There were also several serious database performance fixes: profile page queries that were taking hundreds of seconds on cold caches, a NodeInfo endpoint doing a full table scan on every request, and a handful of timeline pagination bugs.
