My local Target CVS (a pharmacy) introduced a touch screen system where you enter all your details instead of telling the tech.

I honestly like this better because I have an uncommon name and it's a pain in the ass to spell it out for people. I've had people mishear my birthday too, it's annoying.

If they had pickup lockers, it would really complete the self-service model.
