💰️ I don't usually buy digital manga, the manga I read, I'm lucky enough to buy translated into Catalan or Spanish.

This bundle looked too good to not spend the cost of only a few physical volumes. I think I've only heard about one of two from the 61.

Finally caught up with Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai (Twittering Birds Never Fly) by Yoneda Kou.
A really well-known BL manga (15 years, dear me!) that has been on the back burner for me for quite some time now. I picked it up a while ago, first as a CD drama, then as manga (even anime got in the mix), but always stopped just before the time skip. Now I'm up-to-date with the story. And it got me really wondering which direction Yoneda-sensei is moving the pieces. Tragedy would obviously be devastating, but with this specific world that's been built for so long, it's slightly unreasonable to expect a clear-cut happy ending, isn't it?
I also wonder why I'm drawn to it. Its setting is yakuza world, which I can hardly stand. Yashiro being the main character is pretty hardcore in terms of personal story and sexual proclivities. It's basically blood+sex at the core, but somehow mangaka manages to tell a story which I don't mind following at all. Curious. And curious about the ending... it really needs one.

Omoide Teiryuujo (おもいで停留所) by Kunihiko Ikeda. Its genre says "slice of life", but given the time period it paints the whole atmosphere in rather sad tones. It's ordinary life, but the aftermath is there. The whole post-war undertone is there. The stories are fairly simple and straightforward, but you know what you're getting from the place and time like this. The last story is the most poignant one and echoes with some of Fumiyo Kouno's works. Rare non-English one volume license that I unexpectedly have

Re-read chapter 40 of Witch Hat Atelier. Just to refreshen my memory about one of the first shocking twists in this manga. There're certainly more in the following volumes, but this one specifically was the first one to make me pause... Hard to imagine that with such a peaceful chapter cover as this it'll be so devastating.

Now that I read much further I actually feel that I understand the issue that's bothering me with this manga. And it's not a particularly good one. But I'm already invested in the world it created and certain characters deep enough to follow this one to the end.

Read Fukigen Na Mononokean by Wazawa Kiri hoping (in good faith) that it was going to be Natsume Yuujinchou 2.0 vibe-wise. Nope, not even close. 92 chapters and hardly any emotional depth. It's actually kind of impressive on its own. In a bad way. I mean how on earth could you not deliver on a father suddenly disappearing and abandoning his family? Or on a tragedy of a kid left behind after his sensei's demise and bearing a heavy burden of succession? Or on extreme loneliness of Haruitsuki? Or on the issue of self-sacrifice? None of these were explored, and in all honesty, it's truly a missed opportunity. Youkai stuff, relationship between Haruitsuki and Hanae, connection between worlds... any aspect of the story that potentially could be well-developed was just so surface-level that it became irritating. Don't know what anime did with the story, but I have no desire to check it out after a manga like that. And surprisingly, it's actually quite well-liked. Baffling. I guess I'm not the TA of this one

Reading Hibari no Asa (ひばりの朝) by Yamashita Tomoko was hard. Not for any defects in the storytelling or anything artistic-related, no. It was the topic covered. Anger... I think anger was the main feeling I had while reading it. Every single character apart from Hibari was horrifying (particularly adults, and more specifically... men!). Like literally horrifying. And the most horrifying part was the fact that they're not exaggerated monsters or deliberate villains, they're humans... with rotten souls. My admiration to the author for not shying away from the topic.

today, i'm reading【あかつきに漣】by sasaki tamu and sasaki minoru.

interestingly, it's published as seinen rather than BL. i think this is because it's a much slower, more slice-of-life focused manga than a romance. though our MC very clearly develops romantic feelings towards the deuteragonist.

yuu, our protagonist, takes a leave of absence from university after struggling with anxiety when riding in cars or trains. he retreats to a small country town, where he lives at the local temple. there he encounters chiaki; a breezy, happy-go-lucky local monk and son of the temple head.

whilst yuu develops confusing feelings for chiaki, he also struggles to understand and deal with his feelings and anxieties in generaal. meanwhile, a childhood friend asks a probing question about how chiaki's *really* doing and being glad the old chiaki is back. it seems like there's perhaps they have more in common than initial appearances suggest.

i really enjoy the slow, introspective pacing here and the natural kansai dialogue is a real treat.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Took me a long time to pick this up from my shelf; these love stories you can’t simply read any time. If you have to feel good to enjoy this. I’m a bit disappointed in how short this volume is. The translated volume to Spanish costs more than manga that are double in pages. I understand you can’t compare the sales for a shonen like Jujutsu Kaisen against this niche BL manga.

The Fukuyadou Family Shop (Fukuyadou Honpo) manga by Yuchi Yayomi

Family drama with coming-of-age elements that was SO worth reading for the characters. Not a single perfect one, all made mistakes, behaved irrationally, illogically, impulsively. One minute, you want to shake them and knock some sense into their heads, another you feel sorry for them or admire their choices. Seemingly a typical family drama, but then you get some sort of dysfunctional family that still somehow holds together instead. The eldest sister Hina was the most intriguing to follow, starting from her choice of a life partner and ending with her personality (not often we're allowed to see almost textbook passive agressive behaviour, which was quite a surprise). Add some Kyoto traditions, quirky romance, 90s shoujo vibe to the mix and you get a nice story to follow. The epilogue threw me off a bit, because even though I understand how things may turn out that way, repeating patterns was kind of frustrating to see. I know there's a sequel, but I'm OK with the story ending the way it did.

Princess Maison (プリンセスメゾン) by Ikebe Aoi.
Wonderful manga, which easily falls into my comfort reads category. The beauty of the mundane, the comfortable recognition of everyday little things, the whole experience of single life that sometimes slips into loneliness and solitude but most of the time actually doesn't. Every character in this manga is single but deals with it in different ways, some in a more determined way, some - a little subtler. But this manga doesn't moralize, doesn't show the best way to live your life. It just shows little snippets of life. Beautifully quirky artwork, sketch-style way of storytelling. It's filled with air and a slight touch of something so very familiar that it seems borderline nostalgic

I read a oneshot manga in Japanese a while ago called "The Axed Mangaka Went to a Doujin Event | 打ち切られ漫画家、同人イベントへ行く。" which I really liked the premise of. You can read the original Japanese version here.

Basically, a manga artist for a shounen magazine gets their series cancelled, and after seeing some posts on twitter about some fan works of his series, he decides to check out Comiket to see what the fans are up to. He ends up encountering a BL doujin fan of his work, and meeting her inspires him to continue working on manga!

It's a very heartwarming and respectful take on fujin fan culture, and I was really impressed with it, to the point where I was actually planning on fan translating the oneshot myself.

Well I don't have to anymore because it got picked up for serialization as "Axed Mangaka and Doujin Creator | 打ち切られ漫画家と同人女".

It only has 3 chapters out so far, but I really recommend it!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This volume was amazing! 👏 The story moved quickly and without much talking. I thought they would just tease the final match, but we got into it fast. The whole volume was action, and non-stop. With some of the best panels we’ve seen so far. Those Nishinoya receptions, so well drawn. Goosebumps! The extra story at the end with Aoba Josai was so good! Would’ve loved a regular chapter, but I’ll take a pencil sketch any time. We did not get that in the anime, if I recall correctly

Rewriting my intro post in honor of being on blorbo for a year now 🎉 (and making better use of 3000 chara limit this time lol)

Hello, I'm Micah! I'm queer and go by he/they.

I'm big into k-pop, j-pop, j-rock, and v-kei, though I post about k-pop the most. Some groups I like: SHINee, EXO, BTS, XLOV, ILLIT, RESCENE, Perfume, Reol, f5ve, most old Hello Project groups (MiniMoni, W, ºC-ute, Berryz Koubou, etc), 0.1g no gosan, ARLEQUIN, and UNiTE.

I love visual novels, especially otome games! One day I will come back to Cupid Parasite...

Currently playing through the Ace Attorney and Project Diva series. I want to pick Persona 5 Royal (and Persona 3 Reload) back up eventually,,, My other favorite games are Rhythm Heaven, DDR, Danganronpa, and Splatoon! Also very fond of the PS Vita and 3DS era and won't shut up about it.

I collect manga! Mostly my favorites Black Butler and Sailor Moon, but also Ima Koi, Kamisama Kiss, and a few other series I got volumes of from a friend. Perhaps Fangs and Death Note in the future...

My favorite anime are also Black Butler and Sailor Moon, along with Death Parade, Love Live, and Yuri on Ice.

I very casually collect k-pop albums/merch. I have most of BTS' Korean discography, a few SHINee albums, a Jonghyun album, and a Minho poster. Eventually I want to get lightsticks for both groups and more SHINee members' solo albums.

Also got hit with the yaoi beam so my interest in that is back in full force along with everything else. But tbh did it ever really go away?

Now what's the main theme of the movie? The names might be familiar but I'd bet you didn't expect to see someone pair up an early Spiegelman experiment with a recent Chainsaw Man issue to dig into how Fujimoto achieves a sense of split second catastrophe in his action--something maybe only the comics medium can achieve.

Junji Ito's art always attracted me, so gore and calm at the same time, I need to make more and study more his style! I tried to give the manga panel some dimensions by making a focus blur on the background, I hope it worked well.

First, a few words:

"One thing you learn from watching TV, movies, anime, and reading best sellers, to pulp, to fanfic: No story is perfect. There's always hopeful contrivance and caricature in plot or character, a little or a lot... but it works. We like it. It gets bought, published, produced, noticed, sometimes loved despite the warts.

"Authors and playwrights of all levels... take heart. Complete your project and go on to the next. Complete is the superpower you can have, perfect doesn't exist."

And something that works for me: Are you blocked by your internal censor? Do you worry you're revealing your embarrassing true self? Say what I say to myself:

I am not telepathic.

Repeat that: I am not telepathic.

Louder: I AM NOT TELEPATHIC!

I DON'T know what the reader is going to expect.

I DON'T know if the current scene is going to frighten, trigger, or be too explicit for my audience...

Because I DON'T have anyone looking over my shoulder, clicking their tongue, and saying, "Tch, tch, tch!"

I am going to take a deeeeeeep breath, now,

Who is R.S.?

I'm building a network of authors by entertaining you, and by sharing what I've learned through decades of doing it the hard way. My motto: There Shall Be Content! I want to help our writing community by helping authors overcome what keeps them from completing stories. I'm learning self-publishing as a business. I want to push back the loneliness that's part and parcel of this solitary profession.

I follow serious authors, which means people diligently writing or working at completing stories or articles or anything containing words with the intent to publish, whether that's , , , or , or . I will read your profile to check for content before following. You need not courtesy follow in return for a follow.

I boost posts that announce authors' work and publications. I want my followers (largely artists, authors, and photographers) to see your work. We're all creatives here, trying to be professional. Hot Buttons: Feminist issues are my bread and butter. So too labor issues, like jobs being automated out of existence without ensuring former employees can support themselves. Boek nr. 6: No longer human van Junji Ito

Mijn eerste manga. Het was even wennen om het boek van achter naar voren te lezen. No Longer Human gaat over het leven van Oba Yozo, dat gekenmerkt wordt door rokkenjagerij, depressie en drugsverslaving. De zelfdoding van zijn jeugdvriend zal hem altijd achtervolgen. Donker verhaal, maar wel prachtig geïllustreerd. Het hoofdstuk Deepest hell lees je best niet voor het slapengaan.

Spoilers for One Piece Chapter 1066

Chapter 1066 - This chapter is a lot. There's a Luffy update, but far more important is the conversation with Vegapunk 01. They explain what happened during the Void Century!

Additionally, Vegapunk 01 continues on by telling us what happened to the information at Ohara after the Buster Call. The information is not gone, it is not destroyed, it is now mentally housed within Vegapunk 01
