@vsitante yeah moving to mastodon/fediverse is the best thing that's ever happened for my mental health.

I'm still informed about the news and stuff because I choose to seek it out when I'm ready, not just having the world's slop shoved right at me.

I feel like they're going through the shit-cycle faster now with bluesky, without learning anything 😮‍💨

I understand that there were some difficulties adopting mastodon, but tossing it for bluesky makes me realize that people can be so unserious.

I currently host a FreshRSS (RSS feed reader) instance, and I'm open to letting my mutuals use it too as a free service.

You can use it to follow as many RSS feeds as you like! I think RSS feeds are an important way of interacting with the web that is unfortunately overly monetized.

If you'd like to be added, let me know!

Just understand that I am not a professional sysadmin, and I'm running this as a hobby project:

  1. If I have to shut it down, I'll give you ample warning (to the best of my ability).
  2. You have to be okay with me having access to your data, because I'm running this on my VPS.
  3. Please don't follow anything that will get us in legal trouble.

Dryad, a poster illustration for the Geek Faeries Festival.

A digital painting with an artwork showing a dryad, silver hair and leaf-tipped ears in a sunlit forest. Also living vines curl around her shoulders and torso and a small purple bird perches on her shoulder. Golden grass gives a good saturation boost in the yellow in the background.

French edition of Legend of the Galactic Heroes is beautiful

Reinhard and Kircheis in warm yellow orange foregrounding the image, with their ships in the background. They are back-to-back, facing away from each other though Kircheis is glancing backwards at Reinhard.

@geraineon posted about this on their account on priv but can't hurt to share:

Legend of Galactic Heroes is getting a new gorgeous edition in French from Mahô Éditions:

"This new French edition will offer the series in light novel format, illustrated by the Japanese artist @t0mat0juice , whose style pays homage to the original work while giving it a fresh visual identity. The French edition will be offered in a double format, for a total of 7 volumes."

Thank you EVERYONE who came to see me at Manga Ichiba! Friends and folks I've seen at other events I've been a part of-- it all means so much to me to see how wide of a support group I have!! I know I'm not alone in my art adventure but it's easy to forget since the things I make are mostly for myself. My doujinshi is a silly little thing that I didn't expect to really have appeal but you sure showed me what's up!!

I'm so happy I could bring something to the table that lots of people enjoyed.

I was trying to figure out a way to add/browse Readeck articles from my Kobo without displacing my existing Instapaper account, and I found a method!

I created a custom e-ink friendly OPDS browser-website:

a screenshot of the simple black and white site with the same two articles in a collection

I just went through and archived all the fanfics I'd be sad about not getting to read anymore. As always, I've given myself too much power lol.

Readeck has really nice tagging and collections abilities, so once you setup a collection with a specific set of tags, it will auto-update the collection!

@navi@hey.pomnavi.net · Reply to geraineon

@geraineon thanks for linking the article! It's an interesting read, despite its inaccuracies lol.

I think the author is getting at something that feels real though, which is that light novels (CJK) feel fresh, entertaining, and expansive compared to western fiction right now.

I think they could have pushed this thinking a little further, since the popularity of Romantasy (booktok adjacent) and gamelit/progression fantasy like Dungeon Crawler Carl are meeting the same fundamental need or "reading pleasure" as this author calls it.

Royal Road/Kindle Unlimited is sort of functioning in the same manner as Korean free chapters/paid chapters model.

@navi@hey.pomnavi.net

In the interest of saving things before they disappear, I decided to self-host , which is a bookmark/read-it-later application with archiving capabilities.

Probably not going to replace Instapaper with it since I have some automations setup, but it has an excellent archiving ability that works with a browser extension

Shard of Nightmare (2025)

Illustration of Link from Legend of Zelda holding a piece of a mirror shard in his left hand. Rain has pour down around him. The shard contains his left hand with a triforce tattoo with the bottom right triangle glowing in the dark. In front of the hand is a shadowy figure resembling Link with flaming eyes and a smile contrasting the silhouette.
