I've been using phanpy.social as the web frontend since Hollo doesn't have a posting interface, and it's actually really slick!
btw I'm still using moshidon for my phone, so it's really easy to switch between all the accounts.

A tool that connects everyday work into one space. It gives you and your teams AI tools—search, writing, note-taking—inside an all-in-one, flexible workspace.
Other than migrating followers, does migrating mastodon accounts do anything?
For my purposes, I just manually imported my following list, bookmarks, and blocked users list to my new account.
I hope people will also follow me here but that's honestly their choice. Also I like having both accounts usable, since I know I'll probably see more stuff on the bigger instance.
@dirchansky I was honestly pretty nervous, but managed to set it up using the official guide and using AI for questions about the setup when I got a bunch of error messages.
I've never handled VMs, terminal, or linux before but it took me a few hours to get everything fixed and working.
I've seen GoToSocial, Snac, and Akkoma mentioned as some pretty lightweight instances to self-host, but I ultimately went with Hollo because of how it thoroughly sticks to mastodon API, which means you can use most apps meant for mastodon.
I just found it randomly while looking up what people were saying about single user fediverse instances, and I liked the design 🤣. So far so good, but I'll definitely mention it if I run into any issues.

How to deploy Hollo using Docker.
Yay my first post! So, does having my own fediverse instance negate having a separate static microblog that I spent lots of time updating and configuring?
I honestly don't think so. I think of the "now" website as more of a "talking to myself" like a diary, while this account and my mastodon account as "talking to other people".
And I might crosspost multiple places 🤷♀️. At the end of the day, a static blog is more likely to survive and is easier to backup compared to this. For right now, this is an experiment on if it's possible for me to run and maintain a hollo instance, and how much it costs (and whether I'd be willing to pay it after a while).
