Looks like XTEINK wants to lose all their customers 馃ぁ

They're blocking the installation of custom firmwares on devices sold from China/aliexpress (currently). They're claiming they're allowing it on devices from their official store.

What else is this other than greed? They want to upcharge global customers and lock down the device for future enshittification now that it's a little popular.

The Xteink X4 is an affordable pocket sized ereader with a community working on improving the firmware. I've had mine for a few weeks now. Here is a guide on setting it up hollie.eilloh.net/xteink
It has a magnetic strip on the back that I use to fix it to the back flap of my moleskine notebook. A good combo to carry around to combat that phone addiction.

I wanted to read Instapaper articles on my Xteink X4, so I decided to make a script that will download articles and serve up the epubs on an opds feed.

You can add the feed to Crosspoint or CrossInk and download selected articles for reading. It will also sync with your Instapaper, so deleted/archived articles get removed from the feed.

My new mini ereader came in!

I saw the XTeink X4 on a bunch of YouTube videos and really wanted it since it would be much easier to carry around daily than my Libra colour.

The Xteink X4 and the Kobo Libra Colour. The Xteink has a cartoon crocodile holding a coke as a sleep image. The Kobo has stickers on the sleep cover.
