I adored the demo in the mid-00s, with its cool Bolt Gun physics, watching as monsters got nailed to walls in cool environments. Eventually bought the game in late 2008, and it became an early Backlog Game.

Now that I played a few levels? Feels uninspired and janky, fighting waves of copy-pasted enemies in dull environments, with less impactful physics than I remembered.

I can spend my time better. So I will.

Star citizen

Alright guys, so since yesterday Star Citizen is free until the 2 or 3 December. It's the Intergalactic Aerospace Expo (IAE) when each brands present their ships, including new ones. It leans you can freely rent any ship in game during this time.
If you want to try it without having to spend an €/$/£ it's now. If at the end you want to keep playing, you will need to buy a game package, and that's all because you can buy every ships in game, with in game money.
You only have to create an account and while doing this you will have a "Referal code" field, you can fill it with mine (it will give you 50k credits in game, which is quite comfortable to start): STAR-VKGP-6RRL1
If you want to, I can try to find an afternoon (EU time) to play with you and make the experience more pleasant that just check the keys in the settings.
Be warned though: as the game is free, there are more people playing, so it may be a bit slower or there are some bugs.

Currently I am working on making my own phone. :phone: I haven't really wrote much about it on here but i will be in the future! The plan to make a Nokia as if it was created today. (USB-C, 5G etc.) I have a picture of it attached. It is written in #cpp, however I am a real beginner, so please bear with me. Tips and tricks are greatly appreciated. I also like to post pictures i take under the #photography hashtag. (my profile currently consist of almost only that, i try to change that!) For that I use my Fuji XT-1 the built in iPhone 11 Camera or lately even my DSi :smiling_face:

You can call me Bob, and I'm a thirty-something year old living on Awabakal land (Newcastle) in Australia.

I came to the Fediverse because I valued, and wanted, conversation rather than "engagement". Kindness over the rabid hatred and bigotry that existed over on Twitter.

I liked it so much I decided to start an instance. And that's where we are now.

The main thing I talk about here is video games. I'm a fan of pretty much all gaming genres, but some of my favourites from over the years are:

I have a wonderful wife @Jamies, and a lot of animals. We have two cats, Pumpkin & Nutmeg, and three greyhounds, Waffle, Tim Tam & Fairy Floss.

I'm passionately anti-greyhound racing, and have fostered five rescued greyhounds in 2025 as of this post (including Floss who is a foster fail). Greyhounds are a really special breed of dog and they do not deserve the abuse, pain and needless deaths they endure every day as part of the industry.

I'm also passionately anti-bigotry, and I need to get better at verbalising it. I've watched on in shock as the world has taken lurch toward bigotry, racism, homophobia and transphobia. People should have the right to be who they authentically are without fearing being abused, attacked, or eliminated as we're seeing in the USA right now.

I'm also recently diagnosed with ADHD, which was a long time coming and a deep relief for me. I'd always felt as though something wasn't quite right in life, and that just living seemed harder for me than it is for many people around me. Understanding ADHD and how dopamine works in the body suddenly made my life make so much sense.

I'm unashamedly empathic, and will reach out if I see someone struggling. I won't take offence if you tell me to leave you alone.

I'm a person in my late 30s, I live in and pretty much toot in English.

I've been with my partner @apzpins for over 16 years, we run a arcade together as a hobby. We have two elderly who also get shared on here on the occasion.

- I'm not much of a gamer, but I get into the odd game here and there. I have a fondness for older SimCity Games, SNES-era RPGs like Final Fantasy and Earthbound, and I've played with Satisfactory and The Sims from time to time, however...

like - I was previously addicted to, staying logged in 60 hours a week or more (I know, I put parental tracking on myself and got weekly reports). Less interested now, partly due to the changes in Retail, a lot to do with the company that makes it, and a little to do with not wanting to get addicted again. I've dabbled in other MMOs like and private servers.

I'm a and have been for many decades. I've got related sub-interests, like and other non-sexual interests. And like a healthy adult, a sexual side as well, though I haven't found myself needing to express it as much lately.

I'm weird in that I don't typically enjoy music, movies, TV shows, and other types of pop culture. Nothing against it, just not something I personally like. I have an unnatural dislike of anime in particular.

I've recently gotten into and other compatible/similar interlocking bricks. I used to build so many different MOCs as a kid, but it's hard reawakening that creativity. I run an anime blog, Chikorita157’s Anime Blog (chikorita157.com) since 2009 when I started college. I cover primarily yuri, school girl slice of life shows or shows with mostly/all female cast. Manga Time Kirara titles are my favorite, especially Machikado Mazoku, Gochuumon, Comic Girls, New Game, Bocchi the Rock.

@Gazimoff Also if you're using the advanced web interface, you can click on a hashtag to view it, then at the top you can click on settings and pin it to create a permanent column showing that hashtag.

Once it's a column you can go back into settings and choose "include additional tags for this column", and group up a couple tags, like could all go into a gaming related column!

Systematic literature review of digital resources to educate on gender equality - Education and Information Technologies

Violence and discrimination against women are serious problems that affect today's society regardless of culture or social environment. Educational and government programs addressing these gender issues are difficult to scale up, insufficient or, in some cases, nonexistent. Digital resources can contribute to address discrimination against women and different technological initiatives are being carried out around the world. Videogames and digital resources have proven their effectiveness as tools to educate, prevent and raise awareness about social problems. This article presents a systematic literature review of digital resources such as videogames, apps and simulations that address gender issues including violence and stereotypes. Throughout the review, we analyze multiple characteristics of the resources found (development tools, platforms, location, target audience) to classify the studies found. The main goal of this review is to present the status of gender-focused digital resources, their evaluation studies, including the metrics used and samples, as well as the acceptance and impact of their application. Most of the studies reviewed aimed to raise awareness about gender-based violence using serious games targeted at teenagers. For the resources evaluated, pre-post questionnaires were commonly used. However, many of the projects reviewed did not have evaluation studies or the resources were not openly available, thus limiting their massive application and their potential impact on society. We consider that our results provide a starting point to better understand the role of digital resources in raising awareness about gender issues, highlighting their current limitations, and providing recommendations for future research in gender-based digital resources.

In the past I researched artistic "post-digital" publishing, I wrote about the entrepreneurial ideology in relation to precarity, and did a lot of other stuff such as graphic design, web development, installations, net art, zines, weird tools, videoclips… I'm starting to suspect that consistency is not among my core skills :oh_no_bubble:
