I basically thought this was inevitable. The paid chapters format doesn't really work in the west because the "online = free" association is really strong here.

Plus the chapters end up being WAY more expensive than collected versions like ebooks or physical releases.

It's just too expensive. When you think you could get a paper printed manga for a similar (or lower) price, it makes no sense. The business model is plain wrong.

It's like the South Korean "Webtoon" app with lots of manhwa but no appealing monthly flat fee.
